In what case can a student retake the exam?
A student or listener who has not passed the exam (received a grade lower than 5), as well as a student or listener who has not attended the exam for a justifiable reason, has the right to retake the exam once free of charge.
In which case can a student retake the colloquium?
After receiving a negative evaluation of the colloquium (less than 5), the student or listener can retake it once free of charge, but not later than 3 weeks after the colloquium has been held. If more than one colloquium is offered in the study subject, only the colloquium with the highest weight can be retaken.
When a student cannot retake the exam or any other test?
If a student does not attend an exam or other assessment without a valid justifiable reason or behaves dishonestly during the assessment, the examination may not be re-held or held at another time.
How many times can a student retake the exam?
A student or listener who fails the exam has the right to retake it once for free. If, after passing the exam, the final grade of the subject is less than 5, the student receives a debt of the study subject and must repeat the studies of that subject by paying the credit price set by the order of the Rector.
Where to apply if a student wants to retake the exam?
A student needs to contact the Dean’s office of his/hers faculty.
When the retake of the exams is being held?
Retaking of examinations is organized by the relevant departments at the end of the examination session, at the time specified in the academic calendar. The schedule of retaking exams is published by the departments on the Student Self-Service Portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt), on the notice boards of faculties and departments or equivalent departments not later than two days before the appointed retaking date.
Is it possible to advance/delay the exam session?
To postpone (delay) the examination session, the student must apply to the Dean of the student’s faculty, the Chancellor of the Academy. He will decide whether the session can be postponed. The examination session can be postponed: no later than March 1 of the autumn semester, and no later than August 31 of the spring semester. If a student wishes to delay the examination session for an even longer period, this is decided by the Vice-Rector for Studies. It is not possible to advance to an exam session.
What to do if a student has two exams at the same time?
In this case, the student needs to contact the Dean of the student’s faculty, the Chancellor of the Academy and ask to postpone one exam.
What to do if the student could not attend the exam?
If a student was unable to attend the examination (s) during the session due to important justifiable reasons, the Dean of the Faculty and the Chancellor of the Academy may postpone the holding of those examinations by an order: no later than March 1 in the autumn semester and no later than August 31 in the spring semester. The student or the student’s authorized people must inform about the reasons for non-attendance before the end of the examination session. The student must submit a reasoned request with supporting documents to the Dean or the Chancellor of the Academy for permission to take the exam at another time within two working days after the reasons for which he was unable to attend have disappeared.
Can a doctor’s certificate justify a missed exam?
Yes, a doctor’s certificate is an official document justifying a missed exam.
