What scholarships can a student receive while studying at the University?

The student can receive these scholarships:

  1. Incentive scholarship;
  2. Social scholarship;
  3. Mobility scholarship;
  4. One-time scholarship;
  5. Doctoral scholarship;
  6. University Rector scholarship;
  7. Targeted scholarship;
  8. Scholarship for Lithuanians abroad;
  9. Scholarships established by university patrons.

Who is awarded the incentive scholarship?

  • Undergraduate full-time, part-time and integrated studies students with a competitive entrance score greater than or equal to 8,500.
  • For postgraduate, full-time and vocational students with a competitive entrance score of 10,000 points.
  • Undergraduate full-time and integrated studies students with a final session average of 10,000 points.
  • Postgraduate full-time and vocational students whose average session averages 10,000 points and who are actively involved in scientific or artistic activities related to the study program being studied.
  • Incentive scholarships for first, second cycle and vocational students of the part-time study form of the Academies of Education and Agriculture.

When is an incentive scholarship given?

Incentive scholarships are awarded to students twice a year and paid once a month:

  • in the autumn semester – from September 1st until January 31st;
  • in the spring semester – from February 1st until June 30th.

Can a first-year student get an incentive scholarship?

Yes, the following incentive scholarships are awarded to first-year and first-semester students:

  • 2 BSI-sized (1 BSI = 46 EUR) incentive scholarships with a competitive entrance score of 8,500 (eight and a half) points, except for those students who have been awarded a University study scholarship to cover the cost of studies.
  • Incentive scholarships of 1.3 BSI (1 BSI = 46 EUR) are awarded to students in the first semester of part-time studies at the Academies of Education and Agriculture, whose competitive entrance score in the first cycle of studies is greater than or equal to 8,500 (eight and a half), in the second cycle of studies and 10,000 (ten), except for those students who were awarded a University study scholarship to cover the cost of studies.

Where should a student apply if they are awarded an incentive scholarship?

If the scholarship is not awarded for the first time, there is no need to apply anywhere, as the University already has all the student details. However, if the scholarship is awarded for the first time, it is mandatory to contact the Finance Department and provide all the data required by them.

If a student goes abroad to study under a student exchange program, under what conditions and for how long is the scholarship awarded?

Students who go to study at foreign universities under study exchange programs are awarded an incentive scholarship for the first semester of studies on a competitive basis according to the average study results of the last session at the University.

Students who returned from studies according to the study exchange program are awarded an incentive scholarship on a competitive basis according to the results of the last semester achieved at a foreign university and are paid from the date of crediting these results at the University in the following order:

  • from the first day of the current month, if the student’s study results achieved at a foreign university in the last semester are credited to the University by the 15th day of the current month;
  • from the first day of the next calendar month, if the student’s study results achieved at a foreign university are credited at the University after the 15th (fifteenth) day of the current month.

How can a student find out if they have received an incentive scholarship?

A student can find out if they have received an incentive scholarship by visiting the Student Self-Service Portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt), after selecting a section Studies –> Orders.

Who can get a targeted scholarship?

The targeted scholarship can be awarded under the procedure regulated by the documents of programs financed by EU structural and other funds. Who can get a social scholarship?

A social scholarship in the amount of 6.5 BSI (BSI  – basic social allowance) per month can be received by all students of the first, second, and third cycle, integral and professional studies of higher education institutions who meet at least one of the following criteria at the time of the application for the social grant:

  1. are one of the people living together or an individual living alone who have the right to receive or are receiving social allowance according to the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Cash Social Support for Indigent Residents;
  2. has a level of the working capacity of 45 percent or less, or a severe or moderate level of disability, as determined by law;
  3. are not older than 25 years old and have been assigned guardianship (care) until they reach adulthood according to the procedure established by law, or their parents (they have only one parent) are dead.

Where to apply for a social scholarship?

Social scholarships are awarded by the State Study Fund. The application must be completed each semester HERE. Online banking is required to log in.

What tax benefits does the University provide?

The University provides the following tax benefits to students:

  • The tuition fee reduction that can be granted to University students whose difficult social situation and the subjects studied in the last session, after assessing the credits (for first-year students – entrance competitive score) is not less than 8.
  • Accommodation tax relief, which may be granted depending on the student’s social status and place of residence in the dormitory.

In what other ways can tax benefits be granted?

Tax benefits may be granted to students not by competition, in coordination with the President of the University Students’ Representative Council and the Director of the Department of Student Affairs, in these cases:

  • for achievements in scientific, artistic, creative, sports activities and (or) active participation in the public activities of the University.
  • at the request of the student, through the head of the respective department, from the funds available at the University department.
  • for students who do not have academic debts whose main place of employment is the University, upon a motivated request of the employee, mediated by the head of the relevant department.
  • students coming under international programs and projects and bilateral inter-institutional agreements.
