Dormitories for Foreigners

University offers students accommodation in eight dormitories, but dormitories no. 2 (Baltija) and no. 5 (Akademija) are intended for foreign students studying in Kaunas. Dormitory no. 6 is intended for students studying in Vilnius.
Where to book a place in the dormitory?
A student can book a place in the dormitory at the Student Self-Service portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt).
What is the procedure for booking a place of residence for first-year university students?
- Conclude a Study Agreement;
- Reserve a place of residence in a dormitory by choosing it from the list of available places in the Student Self-Service Portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt) in the “Dormitory” section;
- Receive confirmation of the reservation (assignment) of the chosen place of residence by email;
- No later than 5 working days, conclude the Accommodation Agreement by e-mail. via the Student Self-Service Portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt);
- When the place of residence is assigned for the entire period of study, you must move into the assigned place of residence in the dormitory within the deadline set by the Department of Student Affairs (SRD);
- When the place of residence is assigned for the current academic year, it is necessary to move into the assigned place of residence in the dormitory within 5 working days from the date of assignment of the place of residence.

What does a student need to take care of living in the dormitory?
When staying in a dormitory, a student needs to take care of:
- beddings (pillow, blanket) and its covers and towel; if needed, everything can be provided during check-in at the dormitory for an additional fee;
- kitchen utensils (cup, plate, cutlery, pot, frying pan, kettle, etc.);
- the fridge is provided by the university;
- other personal belongings and inventory;
- wired or wireless internet is available in the dormitory.

Till when do I have to pay for the dormitory?
If the accommodation contract is concluded for a period longer than 2 months, the resident must pay the fee for the current month by the 15th calendar day of the current month.
If the contract is concluded for less than 2 months (inclusive), the resident must pay the assigned fee for the entire period of accommodation stipulated in the accommodation contract within 1 day from the day of settling in the place of residence.
How to pay for accommodation services?
- If the student pays the fees himself:
- Log in to the Student Self-Service Portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt)l;
- Find the “Fees” section and indicate the amount you want to pay;
- The system automatically directs you to UAB “Paysera” payment environment, where after choosing the desired bank institution or choosing your bank card and connecting to the bank account, you can immediately pay the amount specified by your VMU.
The fee offset will be visible immediately after payment when returning to the Student Self-Service Portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt) environment or re-connecting to Student Self-Service Portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt).
- If another responsible individual pays the fees for the student (e.g. father, mother, etc.)
- Log in to the Student Self-Service Portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt)l;
- Find the “Fees” section and indicate the amount you want to pay;
- The system automatically directs you to the UAB “Paysera” payment environment, where you need to select the “Other payment system” option and choose the desired tax payment intermediary from those offered.
- Print or save the generated tax and send it to the individual who will pay the tax for you.
The payment of the fee will be visible on Student Self-Service Portal (www.studentas.vdu.lt).lt until 1 working day after the payment date.
Are there tax benefits for living in a dormitory?
Every semester, the Department of Student Affairs (SRD) organizes a competition for tax benefits for those living in University dormitories.
A student can get a discount on the dormitory fee based on:
- social (material) situation;
- dormitory and the type of room in which the student lives (IMPORTANT: students living in a single room in a dormitory are not given a discount).
To apply for tax benefits, students must fill out an electronic application form, submitting (uploading) documents proving the social (material) situation of the student’s family.
Where can a student communicate with other dorm residents? Is there a dormitory council, a dormitory chairman?
Each dormitory has its own Facebook group for sharing relevant information, changes, or news. Also, each dormitory has its dormitory board made up of the chairman and other board members who are living in that dormitory. The dormitory chairperson or, in his or her absence, the designated individual in charge can be contacted if you have any questions about living in that dormitory.
