Chairmen elections and general meetings will be held in VMU dormitories

After another school year, new dormitories chairmen will be elected and meetings with representatives from Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) administration and Student Representative Council (SRC) will be organized.

Election of the dormitory’s chairman is important to every dormitory resident because the dormitory chairman legitimately represents the residents’ interests and mediates between residents and the university (dormitory) administration in solving various problems.

During the meetings, all candidates for this position will be presented, who will have the right to introduce themselves to the meeting participants and answer any questions that may arise. Each dorm resident has the right to vote and can vote for the candidate of his or her choice.

If only one student has been nominated for the position of the chairman and he has been selected according to the procedure specified in the “VMU Dormitory Self-Government Regulations”, he is appointed by the decision of the Director of Student Affairs Department (SAD) and with the approval from the president of the SRC, a meeting is not necessary. The SRC, SRD and the chairman shall inform the public about the appointed chairman.

“Every resident of VMU dormitory should participate in general meetings,” says Ieva Vengrovskaja, coordinator of VMU SRC social affairs committee. “Not only will new dormitory chairmen be elected or introduced, but students will also have the opportunity to speak to University administration delegates about existing issues and discuss future plans.”

October 10th

3 pm – Inspection of dorm rooms.

6 pm – General meeting of residents with VMU administration and VMU SRC. Presentation of new dormitory chairman Rūtenis Triaba.

Dorm no. 2

October 17th

3 pm – Inspection of dorm rooms.

6 pm – Election of dormitory presidents (candidates – Naveed Ah Fareedzai, Ozod Khonberdiyev) and general meeting of residents with VMU administration and VMU SRC.

October 23rd

3 pm – Inspection of dorm rooms.

5 pm – General meeting of residents with VMU administration and VMU SRC. Presentation of the new dormitory chairman Domantas Stanis.

October 16th

3 pm – Inspection of dorm rooms.

6 pm – General meeting of dormitories with VMU administration and VMU SRC.

October 15th

3 pm – Inspection of dorm rooms.

6 pm – General meeting of dormitories with VMU administration and VMU SRC.
