The freshman camp is the best event to start off your studies

On September 19–20, the traditional freshman camp “Subalansuotas Fuksas” organized by Vytautas Magnus University Student Representatives (VMU SR) took place.

After an introductory week at the university, freshmen had the opportunity to spend their first student weekend in a different, informal setting. At the camp in Vievis district, freshmen got acquainted with the structure of VMU, the student movement and new friends of the university, listened to lectures by VMU SR alumni and students from abroad.

“I really liked this camp: all the people and activities that were there,” Irmina Švedaitė, a freshman in Sociology and Anthropology, shared her impressions. – I was surprised by the hike, which required a lot of effort and the fact that so many different people can work and communicate in a team. It seems to me that this was the best event that could have happened at the beginning of my studies.”

The camp started with introductory games, team building tasks and various group discussions. In the evening, a “Survival” simulation took place, during which freshmen were tested to demonstrate what they learned during the day: the survival tribes competed with each other, performing tasks invented by the island’s ancestors, participating in auctions and performing tribal performances.

“I was most impressed by the organization of the event and the activities,” said Martynas Bereiša, a freshman in Public Communication. – I felt that it was taken into account that we are all different and not equally brave to express ourselves in the environment of strangers. But I think all the freshmen had a great time. Undoubtedly, this is one of the most memorable events I had to attend.”

If the mood after the “Subalansuotas Fuksas” camp subsides, we invite freshmen (and not only) to come to the VMU SR committee fair, during which the activities of the committees will be presented, which can be registered for. The fair will take place on September 24 (Thursday), in the lobby of Vytautas Magnus University Great Hall.
