VMU Student Parliament has been elected

Students of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) elected representatives of their faculties in the VMU Student Parliament. 56 students took part in the elections, 50 of whom were elected to represent the students of their faculty.

According to the initial election information, the voting for the candidates was supposed to start on October 28, but taking into account the quotas, the Board of VMU SA noted that only 50% of the candidates from all possible seats in the Student Parliament sent documents on time. It was therefore decided to extend the application period in anticipation of more candidates. The Chair of the Board is pleased that this practice has paid off and we have received 56 applications. “Regrettably due to several departments from which we did not receive any candidate documents (Academy of Music and Faculty of Natural Sciences), we hope that the parliament will take into account the situation of those students when considering updates,” says Solveiga Skaisgirytė, Chairwoman of the Board. She also says the decision to start voting on Friday morning was made because at night Outlook mailboxes are usually not checked, so students would not notice the ballot papers and lose access to and cast their vote for candidates in the first 10 election hours out of 48.

2021 VMU Student Parliament election results:

A total of 523 students voted in the first ballot (31 in the second ballot), about 6.4% of all VMU students. Students of the Faculty of Humanities from November 8. At 10:00, he will have the opportunity to elect another representative of his faculty in the re-election, as during the first ballot, the two candidates received the same number of votes each.

  6. Emilija Talutytė (4 votes in the primary elections, 22 votes in the re-elections)
